Haha,I think I am able to tell the differences as my siblings including me went through three different pre-university courses.
I am not quite sure about A-level.(perhaps you may ask your seniors)
These three pre-university courses are some sort of tickets/passport to enter local universities.
STPM
In my opinion,it is really very tough as I had went to tuition for two months.(not joking, very TOUGH)
This is the reason why STPM is the 3rd hardest examination in the world.
In STPM,you are required to take four subjects(or 5 subjects) and Pengajian Am is the compulsory subject.
For Science Stream students,Biology/Physics,Chemistry,Mathematics(T) and Pengajian Am.
STPM is divided into three semesters.(The duration of STPM is 1 and half year).
Many people opt to take STPM as their pre-university course as they have financial problems.
Local Matriculation
In Matriculation, you are required to take four subjects too.
Package A:Biology,Chemistry,Physics and Mathematics
Package B:Biology,Chemistry,Computer Science and Mathematics
Package C:Chemistry,Physics,Computer Science and Mathematics
The syllabus in matriculation is not easy though but it is comparatively easier than STPM as it is easier to score a CGPA of 4.0 compared to STPM.
But you still need to join co-curricular activities.
Asasi IPTA
I had no ideas of Asasi from other universities except Asasi UPM.
In UPM,you are required to take Chemistry,Biology,Mathematics,Physics,Agriculture,English(for two semesters) and Computer Science(for one semester).
Agriculture is one of the subjects to help students to score! =)
The syllabus in Asasi IPTA is quite different.(We use books from external source which couldn't be found in book shops(MPH,Popular).
Only students from Asasi UM(PASUM) and Asasi UiTM(PALAM) are able to apply to other local universities.
For students from Asasi UKM,Asasi UPM and Asasi UPNM(etc),you are only able to pursue your degree in that particular university.
I would say Asasi IPTA is at the middle in terms of scoring.
The advantage of being an Asasi student(except PASUM and PALAM),
-need not to fight places(degree placement in universities) with others(eg Matriculation students and STPM students) through UPU
-a confirmed place in that particular university
-no co-curricular activities ^^
The disadvantage of being an Asasi student
- you are attached to that particular university
*Many people don't really know about Asasi actually.
I didn't know too till I get it hehe.
All the best and good luck! Make a wise decision!

Ok,this post is about the life in UPM!
The previous post is about the education system of Asasi Sains Pertanian UPM.
First of all, please don't afraid of the word (Pertanian)!
In my semester one, every ASPerian had to visit 12 out of 16 areas around UPM.
If you think from another perspective,it is quite good actually as this is the only subject where you can relax, play and learn something new.
I only managed to visit 9 places because of the holidays.
Truthfully,I felt this Asasi programme has quite a lot of holidays.(Teehee!).
You can treat it as co-curricular activities since ASPerian doesn't required co-curriculum.
For Trackers, you will stay in either 5th College or 6th College.
For Streamers,you will stay in 13th College(most of us-90%).
I will post photos regarding UPM after I return to my university!
In 13th college, you will be living in a dorm(consisting of 6 roommates including yourself).
The dorm is really big.You will have your own partition and privacy.
There is also a laundry shop(self-service) and a convenience store at the ground floor of 13th College.
There is also a jogging track(just opposite 13th College)-BUKIT EKSPO
The food here, ekhem (no comment-...) as I barely eat in the cafeteria.(But the food nearby KPZ quite nice-about 10 minutes walk)
I will either cater food or go to 'Flat Ikan UPM' for my lunch and dinner.(I will tapau my dinner haha)
What is 'Flat Ikan UPM'?
It is actually two rows of shop houses consisting stationery shops, photostating shops, some mamak stalls, laundry shops, fruit juice stall and Chinese food stall(economical rice 'zhap fan').
I usually walk from my lecture hall(Kompleks Akademik E) to Flat Ikan UPM for my lunch and i tapau for my dinner as well.--about 10 minutes walk.
Oh ya,this Asasi is something like pembiayaan oleh kerajaan Malaysia.
You will obtain about one thousand ringgit Malaysia alllowance for every semester.
Need not to spend a single cents on education haha nor burden your family. =)
Wait till I post some pictures and tell you how beautiful UPM is!

Asasi Sains Pertanian UPM
Hello everyone!
I purposely create this blog to provide more information regarding Asasi Sains Pertanian Universiti Putra Malaysia(UPM).
I am an ASPerian(it means a student of Asasi Sains UPM),Streamers,batch-10,session 2014/2015.
Well,hmm..my semester one had just ended. =)
It is my semester break now so I decided to explain more on Asasi Sains UPM.
Ok,I shall describe Asasi UPM in more details!
First of all,Asasi Sains Pertanian UPM is a Foundation of Science programme but the programme is associated with the word 'Pertanian' as it is one of the compulsory subject in UPM that every Asasi students is required to take.
But no worries, you may still continue pursuing Medicine,Engineering,Veterinary Medicine and etc (any degree in Universiti Putra Malaysia-depends on your CGPA)
You may refer to the official website for more information on the degree intake.
There are two intakes for this programme which are January intake and September intake.
For students who are interested in January intake, you may apply using your SPM trial results starting from 1st of October this year.(refer to the Asasi UPM website).
Students who are successfully enrolled themselves in January will be able to pursue their degree in September.(WHICH MEANS ONLY EIGHT MONTHS)
These January intake students are known as 'Trackers'.
You are able to apply any degree in Universiti Putra Malaysia upon completion of this programme except Medicine.
But you are still able to change to May intake if you are interested in pursuing Medicine(with some conditions- not really sure about it).
For students who are interested in May intake, you may apply through UPU(buy the pin number from Bank Simpanan Nasional) starting from January to March after completion of SPM.
Students who are successfully enrolled themselves in May will be able to pursue their degree in the following year September.(Duration about 1 year)
These May intake students are known as 'Streamers'.
Now,I would like to talk about the education system of this programme.
For Trackers, the subjects is divided into 2 semesters whereas for Streamers, the subjects is divided into 3 semesters.
For Trackers, there are 16 subjects whereas for Streamers, there are 18 subjects.
In this Asasi Sains UPM,you will have examination every end of the month.
The disadvantage of having exam every month tends to make you feel stressful and exhausted of reading books but the advantage is that you are only required to finish that syllabus in that particulat month.
For example,Chapter 1 and 2 Maths tested in the first month,In the following month, these two chapters will not come out anymore.(This system is same to every subjects except Physics)
The lecturers here are amazing. There are a lot of tips too.(But in my opinion, the tips were not really useful as you still had to study every thing as your syllabus only covers that particular month)
In my opinion, many of the students here gets offer from local Matriculation but they still chose Asasi Sains UPM as their priorities because ASPerians are known as university foster's children,
Every ASPerian is confirmed for a degree placement in UPM.(It is all depends on your CGPA and the degree that you want to pursue,if it is a critical course, then definitely you have to excel for it!)
You may still proceed to other local private universities and USM upon completion of this foundation programme.
*Only Streamers are applicable to apply to USM as UPM doesn't offer courses like Dentistry,Pharmacy,Radiology and etc.
